Well Wednesday overnight
Back by popular demand!
The Well's gorgeous landscape provides the perfect habitat for a beautiful and diverse community of birds. Join us as we celebrate the arrival of spring by tuning into the sights and sounds of our feathered friends. Being aware of the rich bird life around us can greatly enrich our experience of nature, wherever we are.
This year we will offer 2 options:
A day-only workshop from 1:30p-4:30p for $45
An overnight option which includes the day workshop, dinner on Wednesday night, overnight accommodations in private guest room, a second bird walk on Thursday morning and breakfast and lunch on Thursday for a cost of $135. Two private cottages are available for a cost of $170.
On Well Wednesday, May 1st, our afternoon will begin in the chapel as we learn to identify our resident birds and our seasonal migrating visitors by sight and sound. Then the group will divide into two groups and venture outdoors for a guided bird walk across the meadows and through the woods. The day-only workshop will conclude after our bird walk; those choosing the overnight option will check into their rooms.
On Thursday, May 2nd, we will have a second guided bird walk early in the morning, when the birds are quite vocal and especially active. Lunch will be served at the conclusion of the walk. Then participants will head back to enjoy the sights and sounds of birds in their own back yards.
Participants should bring binoculars if possible. Bird guides and song identification apps are helpful but not required.
This birding adventure will be led by fellow bird geeks Jane Motsinger, Well of Mercy staff member, and Virginia Perry, a long-time guest of Well.
