"Epiphany/Women's Little Christmas Retreat"Women's Little Christmas 2019 | Carrigaline Court Hotel

The Feast of Epiphany is celebrated each year on January 6 by the Church.

The ancient word “Epiphany” means manifestation or appearance and sudden insight or realization. Epiphany is an “Aha” moment.

There is a custom, rooted in Ireland, of celebrating Epiphany as Women's Christmas or Nollaig na mBan in Gaelic. Women’s Christmas originated as a day when women, who often carried the domestic responsibilities all year, took Epiphany as an occasion to celebrate at the end of the holidays. Epiphany and Women’s Christmas offers an opportunity to pause, rest, reflect and restore. It is a time to step back from whatever has kept you busy and hurried in the past weeks or months. As the Christmas season comes to a close, this is an occasion both to celebrate and also to spend time in reflection before moving into the responsibilities of the new year.

This retreat is offered in that spirit, an invitation to REST, to REFLECT and to RESTORE on where you are in your unfolding path. Mindful of those who traveled to welcome the Christ child, we will turn our attention toward questions about our own journey.

As you retreat into this time, may you enter into a space where you can gather up the words, the stories, the fragments and pieces, the gifts and challenges of the past year. May you ponder them in your heart, and there find treasure to sustain you and light your path.

This virtual retreat will be sent out to you and can be accessed after registering.
